In the eyes of the law, Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom are still married. While the two have taken steps to finalize their divorce, it has been reported that a judge has NOT signed off on the documents just yet.
Lamar Odom, 35, continues to fight for his life as his estranged wife, Khloe Kardashian, 31, is standing by his side through this terrible ordeal. Even though Khloe filed for divorce roughly two years ago and the two finally signed the documents in July 2015, she and Lamar are still technically married because a judge hasn’t signed the papers to finalize the divorce.
This fact has been made known a day after the former NBA player was found lying face down and unconscious in a luxury brothel in Pahrump, Nevada on Oct. 13. We previously reported in Aug. 2015, the court system in LA was backed up, which is why Lamar and Khloe’s divorce was not finalized. “Our judgement packages are back logged. We are working on cases received from April. The Kardashian/Odom case has NOT been finalized,” a court services rep told HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY.
“We will probably address their case in three months depending on the workload from May and June, but that’s just a guess. A judge has NOT signed off on their divorce,” the court services rep continued to say. “It’s still waiting to be reviewed by our judgement unit. They are still technically married!” Recent reports by TMZ claim that the divorce will not become final for at least two more months.
Since they’re still married, Khloe is able to make medical decisions on Lamar’s behalf and is entitled to his assets if he does pass away. When Khloe learned about the news of her estranged husband’s condition on Oct. 13 she was “hysterical” and didn’t know what to do about the situation. The 31-year-old immediately rushed to be by Lamar’s side and reportedly arrived in Las Vegas, Nevada, where Lamar is currently in a coma, that very night at about 10 p.m. The former Laker player was allegedly partying all weekend and reportedly indulged in a mixture of drugs which apparently led to his unconsciousness.
Our thoughts continue to be with Khloe, Lamar, and his family during this difficult time.
