Uh oh. Abby Lee Miller, the acerbic star of Lifetime’s reality series, ‘Dance Moms,’ is facing an indictment for bankruptcy fraud. We have all the details of the shocking accusations!
Abby Lee Miller should prepare to dance with the legal system. The 49-year-old Dance Moms star is looking at a federal indictment after having allegedly hid about $750 grand of income in 2010, before filing for bankruptcy. The indictment is very serious, and includes 20 counts in regards to the alleged scheme. If Abby is convicted, she could face up to five years in prison, as well as a fine of $250,000. Yikes!
Abby was reportedly able to make her way out of the bankruptcy hole back in 2014, however, if these charges turn out to be legit, it was all for show.
The indictment also alleges that Abby had falsified the financial reports from her dance studio, and had completely neglected to report part of her income, according to TMZ. The site also reports that the hefty chunk of change which Abby hid from the feds was made mainly from Dance Moms, as well as other television appearances.
The Western District of Pennsylvania’s Department of Justice released a lengthy statement on the charges, which you can read in full here. An excerpt is below:
A reality television performer has been indicted by a federal grand jury in Pittsburgh on charges of bankruptcy fraud, concealment of bankruptcy assets, and false bankruptcy declarations, United States Attorney David J. Hickton announced today.
The 20-count indictment, returned on Oct. 13, named Abigale Lee Miller, 50, as the sole defendant.
“Criminal prosecution is appropriate when debtors corrupt the bankruptcy process through deceit and lies before the court,” said U.S. Attorney Hickton.
“The investigation of Abigale Lee Miller demonstrates our commitment to identify and prosecute those who commit bankruptcy fraud,” stated Acting Inspector in Charge, David McGinnis, of the U.S. Postal Inspection Service – Pittsburgh Division.
HollywoodLife has reached out to Abby’s team for comment. At this time, Abby is still innocent.
