The Battle Rounds continued on the Oct. 13 episode of ‘The Voice,’ and the coaches kept narrowing down their teams to keep only the best singers. But the real battle wound up being between Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton, who left nothing back while fighting each other to steal [SPOILER].
The battles were ON during the Oct. 13 episode of The Voice — but it wasn’t just between the contestants! As Gwen Stefani, Blake Shelton, Adam Levine and Pharrell continued to filter down their teams, one pairing led to an epic double-button Steal, which had rumored lovers Gwen and Blake at each other’s throats to win the contestant over!
Team Adam was first in the spotlight tonight, and he chose Keith Semple and Manny Cabo to go head-to-head in his first pairing. The guys sounded totally amazing together, and we can’t even imagine having to make this decision like Adam did! He wound up going with Keith, sending Manny home to massive cheers from the crowd.
Chris Crump and Krista Hughes from Blake’s team were up next, and it provided a country-pop matchup for the “Sangria” singer. The song, Brad Paisley’s “When I Get Where I’m Going,” was most definitely in Krista’s wheelhouse, but that didn’t stop Chris from giving it his all and really shining when it came to pouring emotion into the song. Blake chose Chris to keep around, sending one of his many country singers home.Austin
Although we didn’t get to see the next few battles, we did find out that Pharrell advanced Maddie Davis, while Gwen kept Kota Wade and Jeffrey Austin. And Pharrell’s team was front-and-center once again in the last match of the night, when Ivonne Acero, who got no chairs to turn in Season 8, took on Siahna Mi. You wouldn’t believe the girls could sing so powerfully from just looking at them, but the performance was totally incredible! Pharrell picked Siahna — who is just 15 years old, by the way — but it wasn’t the end of the road for Ivonne! Both Blake and Gwen pushed their buttons for the Steal!
Interestingly, this led to an all-out war between the coaches who both went through divorces this summer, and have been acting pretty flirty with each other all season long. Adam, naturally, pushed Ivonne to pick Gwen (anything to take someone away from Blake, of course!), but the singer ultimately went with the country cutie. “I can’t believe you did that!” Gwen playfully joked to Blake. “You’re supposed to be on my side”!
Now, all the coaches have used one of their steals, meaning they each have one left when the Battle Rounds continue next Monday. Stay tuned — we’ll be bringing you all the latest as the show continues!
HollywoodLifers, do you think Ivonne made the right choice by picking Blake?
