Hayden Panettiere has been very open about struggling with postpartum depression after giving birth to her daughter Dec. 2014. Although she has been battling the illness on her own, the ‘Nashville’ star has decided to seek professional treatment for PPD.
Hayden Panettiere, 26, has voluntarily entered a treatment center for postpartum depression. The actress did not hide her motherhood troubles from the public and actually admitted she had a difficult time adjusting to her role as a mommy after giving birth to her daughter Kaya Klitschko in Dec. 2014. Thankfully Hayden took the initiative to take care of herself by seeking professional help.
The mother of one is “is voluntarily seeking professional help at a treatment center as she is currently battling postpartum depression,” her rep revealed to PEOPLE and confirmed to the news to HollywoodLife.com. “She asks that the media respect her privacy during this time.” This news doesn’t come as much of a surprise since Hayden revealed on Live! with Kelly and Michael at the end of Sept. that she was battling postpartum depression.
The actress’ character on Nashville is also battling the same disease on the show and she can certainly relate to her on-screen persona. “It’s something a lot of women experience. When [you’re told] about postpartum depression you think it’s ‘I feel negative feelings towards my child, I want to injure or hurt my child’ — I’ve never, ever had those feelings,” Hayden explained on the talk show. “Some women do. But you don’t realize how broad of a spectrum you can really experience that on. It’s something that needs to be talked about. Women need to know that they’re not alone, and that it does heal.”

On social media, Hayden revealed she was starting to feel much like herself again. The actress shared a picture of herself wearing all black, form fitting clothes. “Feeling like I’m
