Alexa Penavega got a perfect score of 40 during the week 5 Switch Up, for a Tango she did with Derek Hough. But her husband Carlos’ Quickstep was even better, in my opinion! Here’s why he should have scored higher.
Dancing With The Stars has never had a married couple competing against each other, so the dynamic between Alexa Penavega, 27, and Carlos Penavega, 26, is unique and different this season. Things started heating up on the Oct. 12 episode, as Alexa got a perfect score of 40 and Carlos got a near-perfect 39. I thought Carlos actually did better than Alexa — watch both performances below!
“That was not a great Quickstep, it was an amazing Quickstep,” guest judge Maksim Chmerkovskiy told them. Bruno Tonioli raved that it combined a few styles of dance and “glued together magnificently.” They got a 39, with Maks giving them a 9 instead of a 10. He totally robbed them of the perfect score they deserved!

Even Carrie Ann Inaba said: “Thank you because, to me, it doesn’t get any better than that.” Well, apparently it does, because Alexa danced next.
Carrie Ann gave her a standing ovation! “There was an element of authenticity,”Julianne Hough said. Maks said in previous dances, she’s been too much in her own head, but tonight was well done. They got a perfect score of 40! I thought their dance was really, really good, but I don’t think it was better than Carlos and Lindsay.
As much as I hate to say it, I do think the judges play favorites, and maybe Lindsay didn’t get a perfect score because this is her first season as a pro on the show. Alexa is so sweet and I think she worked really hard for that perfect score, I just think Carlos did too.
