Daniel Fells MRSA Infection

So sad. New York Giants Tight End Daniel Fells has been battling a MRSA infection in his left foot and received the unfortunate news that it might need to be amputated. As doctors work to save Daniel and his foot, fans tweeted their support.

After Daniel Fells, 32, was admitted to the hospital for an ankle injury on Oct. 2, doctors found that the New York Giants tight end actually had a MRSA infection. Unfortunately for Daniel, MRSA (Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus) is a staph infection that rejects practically any kind of treatment. A new report on Oct. 11 said Daniel’s condition is so serious, he could be losing his foot, which has fans extremely upset.

Daniel has had five surgeries since the infection was initially detected, but doctors are worried his condition could spread to his bones and eventually travel to his blood. This not only puts Daniel at a higher chance of death, but also means his foot might need to be amputated. Once the sad news broke, Daniel took to social media himself on Oct. 11 to show his team some love since he couldn’t be on the field with them. “My heart is with my brothers tonight. Get that W G-men. I love every one of you ,” he wrote on Twitter. His heartfelt tweet created a flood of supportive, thoughtful comments from fans shortly after.

Despite Daniel’s tragic condition, he was able to watch his team prevail over the San Francisco 49ers, who also dedicated their winning game to their hospitalized teammate. We are so glad to see such an outpouring of support for Daniel, and he remains in our thoughts as he goes through this scary time.
