Stay strong, girl! Kim Zolciak revealed new details about her heart condition on Oct. 8, saying she recently discovered she has a hole in her heart, so she’s preparing to undergo heart surgery after suffering a scary mini stroke last month.
Kim Zolciak, 37 revealed she has a condition called patent foramen ovale, which is a hole in her heart, during her appearance on Good Morning America Oct. 8. Later that day, the reality star sat down with E! to reveal she has already scheduled an operation to have heart surgery, following her terrifying mini heart stroke last month.
In true Kim fashion, she made sure to get only the best of the best to help her overcome this obstacle. “I have one of the top cardiologists in the country who’s amazing,” Kim said during her interview with E!. “Anything that has to do with your heart and brain is pretty scary, but heck, I’ve been through it. I’m okay.” That’s a good way to stay positive during such a scary situation!
The former Dancing With the Stars contestant later went into detail about how her condition caused the stroke. “I had a blood clot, they don’t know if it came from my leg or my pelvis,” Kim said. “Most people have a filter so it can’t cross over to the other side of your heart, but because I do have a valve – they call it a hole, but it’s more like a valve that never closed when I was born – the blood clot was able to transfer and go through the hole, which stopped oxygen to my brain on the right side of my brain.” She added that her aunt suffered from the same exact thing at her age.
While on GMA, Kim also addressed the rumors that she had faked the stroke. “I just think it’s sick that somebody would ever think that,” she said. “And some of the people who have said that, it shows me their mentality. I don’t think that many people would really fake a stroke. Especially [since] I love Dancing with the Stars.”
HollywoodLifers, keep Kim in your thoughts as we wish her a speedy recovery!
