Everything changed after last week’s shocking ‘Scandal’ episode, and the Oct. 8 episode picked up where dust settled after Olivia admitted her affair with Fitz to the world. You won’t believe what happened next!
Olivia and Fitz’s relationship was now truly out in the open, and the drama from it exploded on the Oct. 8 episode of Scandal. Olivia (Kerry Washington) made another huge statement about her relationship with Fitz (Tony Goldwyn), Mellie (Bellamy Young) dished out some shocking demands, Cyrus (Jeff Perry) just about ruined everything and a fan favorite returned!
Abby was freaking out because, you know, Olivia just confirmed her relationship with Fitz on national television. Fitz and Mellie were just about to sit down for their interview. Abby didn’t make it in time, so the interview went on. Mellie denied the affair while Fitz said their marriage was stronger than ever. Dear god.
At this point, Abby took off her heels and ran. She burst through the door and said there was an intruder in the White House. She brought them into a separate room, and Mellie caught the video of Olivia admitting her affair with Fitz. Mellie looked like she died right then and there in the White House. Fitz looked shocked and the happiest we’ve seen him in a long time.
Olivia made her way to the White House, and the way Fitz looked at her was just… incredible. The sweet moment was cut off by Mellie slut-shaming Olivia. But they all had bigger fish to fry. The reporter who was doing Fitz and Mellie’s interview was threatening to run the tape of them lying unless they gave him the divorce exclusive. Fitz wanted to tell the truth, but Mellie was not about to do that.
‘I Want To Destroy Olivia Pope’
Olivia gave Fitz some options as to what to do next. He just wanted to come clean and move on. In the midst of the mayhem, Olivia and Fitz shared a steamy kiss in the Oval. Looks like they are still not giving a flying you know what about those cameras.
Abby went to Mellie and said the interview could work for her, too. That’s when Cyrus walked in. He was Mellie’s new chief advisor: Mellie had one goal: “I want to destroy Olivia Pope.” Cyrus wanted to know what she wanted, and Mellie knew. She wanted to be the President of the United States. Elizabeth told Olitz about Cyrus and revealed that Mellie and Cyrus wanted to make a deal. Oh boy.
Meanwhile, the phones at OPA were ringing off the hook. Quinn and Huck were manning the lines. Jake walked in and brought the vodka. They all started getting wasted. Olivia called Jake and confessed that she may have made a mistake in admitting the affair. Jake vowed to rush to her side if she needed him. Jesus. Jake is still so clearly in love with Olivia. Bless him.
Cyrus and Mellie came up with their plan for Fitz. Basically, Fitz would become Mellie’s “bitch.” He would follow her on the campaign trail, Olivia couldn’t move into the White House, Olitz couldn’t get married until well after Mellie became president. In the least shocking news of the day, Olivia agreed to make Mellie happy, which meant Fitz agreed.
Mellie wasn’t the only one pissed about Olivia’s big confession. There was Abby. She claimed Olivia embarrassed her by admitting her romance with Fitz. Olivia told her that she didn’t want Abby to have to lie for her, but Abby believed Olivia thought she wouldn’t know how to handle it.
Sacrifices & Wanting More
Oh, and Cyrus also revealed that Olivia could never take the Grant name. The agreement was printed and only needed Mellie’s signature. She turned it down. “I want more,” Mellie yelled. But she didn’t know what kind of more. She wanted Cyrus to take care of that, but she didn’t know if he could. “You don’t have the fire, you don’t have the drive. You’re soft,” Mellie spat, owning Cyrus.
Well, that lighted Cyrus’ fire. He went straight to the Oval Office and told Fitz that Mellie wasn’t going to budge. Cyrus went on a non-stop guilt trip. The only way for Fitz for fix things was to take Mellie back. Olivia and Fitz needed to put their relationship on hold. This all became too much for Olivia. She found Mellie in the closet looking for her hooch. Mellie started going off about the sacrifices Olivia would have to make being by Fitz’s side.
This got to Olivia. She went to Fitz and told him they were going to have to wait to truly be together. Fitz knew this wasn’t entirely Olivia’s doing. Fitz knew Mellie got under Olivia’s skin. Olivia wasn’t ready to give up her life outside of Fitz quite yet, but isn’t this what Fitz told Olivia to do an episode ago?!
Watch Me Choose You
Fitz found Mellie on the White House balcony. He thanked her for everything she had done for him, for all that she had sacrificed for him. He knew that she was going to be the first woman President of the United States. Regardless of their romantic feelings for each other, Fitz and Mellie were a team.
Cyrus went back to Fitz to tell him that he was making the right decision in getting back with Mellie. He just used this as an opportunity to make one final plea for his job. “I am your guy,” Cyrus told Fitz. “I have your back forever. Always.” Fitz didn’t budge. That’s when something snapped in Cyrus.
Cyrus slithered over to Mellie and just messed everything up. He told Mellie that she got played by Fitz, and Mellie believed it. Before the interview, which was on a major time constraint, Mellie ran off. She left the White House with Cyrus. Quinn and Huck were watching the interview drama go down, and that’s when Jake noticed a report that the Louvre was in flames.
Abby went up to the podium and threw Olivia under the bus. Fitz was ready to stand up for Olivia, but she had other plans. “Sit there and watch me choose you,” Olivia told him, slaying the hearts of every Olitz fan. They held each other as everything around them fell into place.
Jake made his way to prison to meet with ROWAN! He’s back! Paris on fire was a code for something, and only Rowan knows what’s coming next.
