FINALLY! The first Power Ranger for the highly-anticipated ‘Power Rangers’ reboot movie has been cast. Meet your new Pink Ranger, Naomi Scott!

Go, go, Power Rangers! The Power Rangers movie doesn’t hit theaters until 2017, but the cast is starting to get revealed. Everyone’s beloved Pink Ranger has been cast, and her name is Naomi Scott, 22!

The official Power Rangers movie Instagram page confirmed the news on Oct. 7. “It’s official! #NaomiScott will play the #PinkRanger in the @PowerRangersMovie! Coming in 2017…” the post read. After the news went public, Naomi posted an Instagram photo with the caption, “I’m done.” Someone’s clearly excited!

This is the first major casting for the new film. The movie has yet to reveal who is playing Red Ranger, Yellow Ranger, Blue Ranger, Green Ranger and Black Ranger. Anyone else think anyone from the Teen Wolf cast would make great Rangers?

The movie follows a group of high school kids who all have unique superpowers and band together to save the world. Power Rangers is based on the Japanese TV show Super Sentai. The TV show, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, became a huge hit in the United States when it debuted in 1993.

The show inspired the movie, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie, which was released in 1995. The movie starred Amy Jo Johnson as the Pink Ranger. Maybe she’ll make a cameo in the new film! Over the years, many shows focusing on the group of crime-fighting teens have hit TV. Power Rangers Dino Charge premiered on Nickelodeon in Feb. 2015.

As for Naomi, you’ve definitely seen her before. The 22-year-old appeared in The Martian, which was released Oct. 2. She also starred in the Disney TV movie Lemonade Mouth and Terra Nova.

HollywoodLifers, do you think Naomi is a good choice for the Pink Ranger? Who do you think they’ll cast next? Who should be cast? Let us know your thoughts below!
