So scary! Kim Zolciak revealed that her doctors found a hole in her heart, and that it caused the stroke she had on Sept. 22 at the age of 37.
Kim Zolciak, 37, finally spoke out about her stroke for the first time on Good Morning America on Oct. 8. The mini stroke that forced her to withdraw from Dancing with the Stars caused her to lose feeling on one side and the ability to speak, but fortunately she has recovered, and now she knows the reason why she had the stroke.
Kim explained on GMA how her stroke was caused by the small hole in her heart. “The minor TIA [mini stroke] revealed that I have a PFO [patent foramen ovale], which is like a hole in your heart that I was born with that never closed,” Kim said. “The blood clot was able to cross over through the hole, whereas most people don’t have that and it’s not able to do that. That’s what caused [the stroke].” It’s terrifying to go through a medical ordeal like that, and Kim is being extremely brave to speak publicly about what happened to her.
Kim Zolciak To People Who Think She Faked It: ‘I Just Think It’s Sick’
Kim also spoke out about what she really thinks about the haters and people who’ve accused her of faking the stroke. “I just think it’s sick that somebody would ever think that,” she said on GMA. “And some of the people who have said that, it shows me their mentality. I don’t think that many people would really fake a stroke. Especially [since] I love Dancing with the Stars.”
It’s so sad that Kim had to withdraw from the season, and she confessed that it’s been “very difficult” for her to miss out. “I feel like they could’ve done something via satellite,” she said. “They’ve made exceptions in the past for people that couldn’t dance at the actual show, who got injured in a rehearsal.” However, she will be back for the November finale — we can’t wait!
