Motherhood has given Chelsea Clinton new perspective on one individual in particular — her own mom, Hillary Clinton. The new mommy told Ellen DeGeneres why she respects her mom, who is currently a Democratic presidential candidate — watch!
Chelsea Clinton, 35, had a lot to say when she sat down with Ellen DeGeneres on Oct. 8 to talk about her mother, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Of course Chelsea is very supportive, but what she says about her mom is amazing. Click to watch the interview.
Chelsea is a new mom, so when she looks at her own mother, Hillary, she sees more than just a parental figure. “Well, I feel so strongly about my mom now too, because I am a mom. I didn’t know that I could love and admire and respect my mom anymore, until I became a mom,” the stunning brunette told Ellen.
Chelsea went on to say, “I couldn’t believe any more in her as the right leader for the country I want my daughter to grow up in, but I do because she has been working to ensure that every woman should get the chance to grow up to be you, or to grow up and be the next Hillary Clinton.”
The supportive daughter went on to say, “Every little girl should have the opportunity to pursue her dreams. And so when I see her being attacked I just have even more respect that she keeps fighting. I think she could have stopped a long time ago, but she still would have accomplished a lot, but she keeps going because there’s so much unfinished business to ensure that every little girl and every little boy has the chance to live up to their G-d given potential.”
Will Chelsea Clinton Run For Office?
As for pursuing her own political career, Chelsea stated, “Well, I don’t know. The first time that someone asked me whether I would have a political career, I think I was about three. And my dad was running for Governor of Arkansas; he was running for re-election. And we were at a campaign event and I was standing off to the side waving a flag, because when you’re three that’s kind of what you can contribute. And this woman came up to me and said, ‘ya know Chelsea, do you want to be the Governor of Arkansas some day?’…I think I said, ‘Ma’am, I’m three.’ So now that I’m at a different point in my life, I do believe there are many ways to serve. I’m really lucky to live in a city and a state and a country where I support the people representing me.”
