Uh oh! Ashley Benson came under fire Oct. 7 when she asked fans on Instagram to help her decide whether she should go as Cecil The Lion, who was murdered by a dentist for $50,000, for Halloween.
Ashely Benson is trying to put out a major fire. The actress offended her fans when she posted a pic of herself in a lion costume with this caption: “Help! Can’t decide on my Halloween costume this year! What do you guys think of this Cecil The Lion costume? @yandy #thanksyandy #halloweencostume.” That really upset her fans so Ashley, 25, changed her caption and posted a lengthy apology. She claims someone from her management team wrote her caption and that she had no idea it mentioned Cecil, do you believe her?
This was Ashley’s apology: “Yesterday’s post was in poor taste and I absolutely regret all of the hurt that photo caused. The caption that was posted was incorrect and my costume was not Cecil the Lion, when I saw that, I contacted my management who handled the post and had it immediately changed. I recognize that I am responsible for everything posted on my social accounts and this was an unfortunate oversight. I am a supporter of Animal conservation and I will be donating all the proceeds of this deal to the World Wildlife Fund. I love you all and I apologize if I let you down.”
We appreciate Ashley’s apology and are so glad she will be making such a generous donation. The incident of this 13-year-old lion being murdered by an American dentist is just tragic and we have seen several other Halloween costumes similar to Ashley’s. We hope no one else opts to go as Cecil or the dentist for Halloween because this is not the way to raise awareness.
HollywoodLifers, do you accept Ashley’s apology?
