“I’ve been working in therapy. Even if I did gain weight, I’m fine. That’s what the picture represents,” the 23-year-old told Us Weekly about her sexy and almost nude Revival album cover. “This was the first year I ever dealt with anyone talking about my body. I’d land at the airport and people would yell out, ‘You’re fat!’ It was awful.” That’s so terrible!
Selena continued to open up about the whole thing and said she isn’t going to let the insults and body shaming bring her down. “Each year, I’m becoming more who I am,” she said. “I have a little more self-awareness. I feel confident and free. I’m not going to hide in my room and be depressed.” Not only is Selena standing up against the body bullies for herself, she’s doing it for all of the young women out there.
Selena Will Continue To Passionately Fight Body Shamers
Selena isn’t going to stand by and just let body shamers insult her. As a public figure, the 23-year-old plans on fighting the bullies for the young women who also deal with weight issues like herself. “It’s about fighting for all the young women out there who struggle with weight issues,” an insider told HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY. “Selena wants to be the ambassador of anti-bullying on all levels and she doesn’t plan on backing down any time soon. Its all about self-empowerment, not only for herself, but for her fans and the countless young people who get picked on for the way they look. Selena fully embraces being their voice.”
