We all know Ryan Murphy loves his leading ladies — and this scene proves just that. In part one of the ‘Scream Queens’ Halloween special, Lea Michele’s Hester proved that she’s absolutely worthy to be a Chanel when she totally stood up to a rude frat boy, before putting him in his place.
When you mess with one Chanel, you mess with them all. That’s what happened when
Hester Chanel No. 6 (Lea Michele) was approached by a rude frat boy in the Oct. 6 episode of Scream Queens. Chanel (Emma Roberts), Chanel No. 3 (Billie Lourde) and Chanel No. 5 (Abigail Breslin) all came to her defense right away — and you know you have to rewatch this scene that even the Spice Girls would be proud of.
“Hey! That’s my sister — and she’s no bi-ch, but I am,” Chanel says after the rando frat boy calls No. 6 out after she kicks him where the sun don’t shine. With that, she full out punches him in the face, as do all the girls — and then they continue to kick him. Now, I’m not condoning bullying or violence, of course, but it was nice to see two things happen here.
1. Women standing up for each other. Ryan Murphy is all about strong women, and this scene right here shows all of that. Sure, there is name calling throughout the show, but even the biggest Queen Bee, Chanel, has the back of her sisters.
2. Women standing up to men. As most women (especially us that live in New York City), deal with men whistling and yelling things to them as they walk by. But this time, Hester and the rest of the Chanels are pretty spot on with how they feel about the taunting.
So this scene was pretty epic — and Lea Michele agrees, it’s all about the ladies. “That’s why I believe the killer is a girl and the hero will be a girl. I think that us women we are so powerful and so strong in so many ways and we have some incredible Scream Kings, but I’m convinced it will all come down to us girls,” she told E! Well, I think so too. In the meantime, let’s relive that scene.
