Kobe Bryant hit the court in his first game since tearing his rotator cuff in January and it seems the NBA legend was a bit rusty. During the LA Lakers gave versus the Utah Jazz Kobe shocked everyone when his shot bounced off the side of the backboard — yikes!
Even NBA stars have bad games. Kobe Bryant made his big debut, Oct. 4 at the University of Hawaii but did have the same pizazz that fans were use to seeing from the 37-year-old. When Kobe attempted a three pointer it ended up bouncing off and landing right in Gordon Hayward‘s arms! The game was a tough one for the Lakers, it ended with a score of 90-71, Utah.
Fans were reportedly over heard saying:”He’s rusty. He’s rusty” when he missed the shot. He did make a comeback later in the game but not before missing several other shots, including one mid-range attempt and another three pointer. But once he left the game fans began to chant his name during the fourth quarter. “I thought they were crazy. He hadn’t played for 21/2 quarters,” coach Byron Scott said in a post-game interview. “They didn’t think I really was going to put him back in, did they? As much as I love Hawaii, it’s a much bigger picture than these two games.”
But it definitely seems like there’s a strong chance Kobe will get a second try to prove himself during their Oct. 6 game against the Jazz again. “This is business,” Kobe said of being in Hawaii. “I don’t swim, so I don’t get near the water anyway.” We are super happy he’s back though because he gave an interview in January where he said he was considering retiring! “I’d be lying if I said that it hasn’t crossed my mind,” he told The Los Angeles Times. “Right now I doubt it … but anything’s possible. My body is hurting like crazy, around the clock, and if I don’t want to do this anymore, I won’t do it,”
HollywoodLifers, do you think Kobe seems rusty?
