Congratulations are in order for James Franco! The actor participated in Jewish tradition on Oct. 3 by finally getting bar mitzvahed at 37 years old. Although the whole thing was for charity, the ceremony was completely legit, and James excitedly posted about it on Instagram. Check it out!
At 37 years old, James Franco is finally a man…at least in the eyes of Jewish religion! Participating in an event to raise money for his pal, Seth Rogen’s, Hilarity for Charity, James finally did something he’s been wanting to do since he was just a teenager — have a bar mitzvah — and it was all for a great cause. Get the scoop!
James read the Torah and went through all the official motions during his ceremony on Oct. 3, but the celebration will be taking place on Oct. 17, with a party thrown by the Neighbors 2 star. The event is ticketed, will raise money for the Alzheimer’s Association, and will be the fourth annual variety show thrown by Hilarity For Charity.
“Ever since I’ve known James, he’s been talking about wanting a bar mitzvah,” Seth said in a statement in July. “We’re excited to see him finally become a man while also helping us raise awareness and funds for people living with Alzheimer’s and towards research that will lead to a cure. And in celebration we’ll also have a mohel and a live bris for James at the event. You don’t want to miss it.”
Miley Cyrus, 22, will be headlining the bar mitzvah, so it’s bound to be a pretty different experience than what you might usually find! The tickets to the party are already sold out, but it’s safe to say there will be a lot to keep up with on social media after everything goes down. We can’t wait!
