We’re still so devastated over the news of Caleb Logan’s passing. But there’s been so little revealed about what could have possibly caused him to die suddenly at just 13 years old, so HollywoodLife.com spoke with an expert to find out what the possible cause of death could have been.
It’s hard to believe that things could’ve changed so drastically in the mere hours between when Caleb Logan filmed his final YouTube video and when he was pronounced dead. The Bratayley family has been vague about the 13-year-old’s cause of death, simply referring to it as ‘natural causes,’ but HollywoodLife.com has gotten facts straight from a doctor regarding what may have caused a seemingly healthy teenager to pass way so suddenly.
“The most common causes of death, in order, between the ages of 10 and 14 are: An accident, cancer, suicide, homicide, congenital anomalies (birth defects) and heart disease, mainly cardiac arrhythmia” Dr. Bruce Lee, MD, tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY. Caleb’s medical report rules out a suicide and says there was ‘no foul play,’ but reveals that he suffered a “medical emergency” and was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to TMZ.
It’s possible that Caleb could’ve had an undetected cancer, and if so, the coroner will find it in an autopsy, Dr. Lee explains. As for a possible birth defect, he explains, “Sometimes there are heart anomalies that go undetected. The heart could be functioning fine one day and give out the next. If it’s determined that this was the cause of Caleb’s death, his siblings should be checked.”
Finally, there’s the final possibility: Heart diseases/cardiac arrhythmia. “This could go unnoticed and mainly occurs in males that just automatically drop dead while playing sports,” Dr. Lee says. “People can develop it or are born with it, and it’s one of the leading causes of sudden death. Arrhythmia means the electrical pathways in the heart do not function normally. If the pathways are disturbed, then the heart doesn’t pump we’ll, so less blood goes to the body and brain. It can be difficult to detect because one minute the heart is beating normally, and the next it’s beating irregularly. When someone dies from arrhythmia, they could first have a shortness of breath, then they may get dizzy and pass out and never wake up.”
Caleb’s family has not commented on the reported “medical emergency,” so it’s still unknown if any of the above symptoms are the ones he experienced that led to the hospital visit. Our thoughts remain with the Bratayley’s as they grief during this difficult time.
HollywoodLifers, leave your condolences for the Bratayley family in the comments section below.
