Who needs a runway show when you can show off your entire collection in a seriously sexy, chic music video? Tom Ford decided to debut his Spring 2016 collection with a high-energy video — and it stars the fashion-forward Lady Gaga, performing a cover of “I Want Your Love” — WATCH it right here.
In the midst of fashion week it’s normal to feel the fatigue, but Tom Ford‘s disco dance party is totally bringing us back to life this morning. The designer decided to skip out on staging a traditional runway show to debut his Spring 2016 collection, instead enlisting Lady Gaga to star in a runway-show-meets-music-video — and we can’t get enough of the dancing catwalk.
Aside from the cool clothes, Lady Gaga is up to her usual antics as she flashes a little butt cheek beneath a mini dress and struts her stuff in a lace bra and trousers. The songstress recorded a cover of “I Want Your Love” alongside Nile Rodgers, who originally released the song with the band Chic on their 1978 album, C’est Chic. The retro vibe really brings the collection alive.
Shot in LA, Gaga appears alongside a slew of models in the video, which was directed by Nick Knight. “Having a runway show has become so much about the creation of imagery for online and social media and watching a filmed fashion show can be like watching a filmed play [which is never very satisfying],” the designer said in a statement. “It was a great deal of fun to do and I think that the video captures the spirit of the collection in a way that a filmed traditional show would not have.” Up next, the designer will be producing a second film for his fall collection.
For all the fuss that goes into fashion week, coupled with the ever-changing digital media landscape, Tom Ford’s approach is kind of genius.
