Olivia and Fitz’s relationship was now out in the open, and Olivia tried to run as far from the media firestorm as she could. However, the final seconds of the Oct. 1 episode made every Gladiator SCREAM. It was that epic.
Scandal just went there. The show might have just had its biggest cliffhanger ever. On the Oct. 1 episode, Mellie gave Fitz an ultimatum, Huck and Quinn had it out, Abby took control, the identity of who leaked the photos of Olivia and Fitz was revealed and Olivia made one jaw-dropping confession in the episode’s final moments.
Sally was still up to her old ways. She was basically on political crack because of the Olivia and Fitz affair. She called Olivia a “seductress.” LOL, Sally. After she started ranting, Fitz cut the TV off. He assured Olivia that everything was going to be OK. However, the look on Olivia’s face was pure fear.
Fitz was adamant to find out who leaked the photos. According to Liz, it came from the inside. Abby said the culprit was not the issue at the moment. The press was getting rabid. They needed to hear from Fitz, like, NOW. Except he didn’t want to make a statement alone — he wanted to make a statement with Olivia! Bold move, Fitzgerald.
Abby knew Olivia wasn’t going to do that. Even as much as Olivia loved Fitz, it just wasn’t going to happen. When Fitz got back the residence, Olivia was gone — he just got POPED. She told him to wait for her to call him. She would make a move. All the while, Sally said that Olivia would not be able to hide. Girl, you don’t know Olivia.
Olivia showed up to Quinn’s and was ready to work. She needed to take her mind off the scandal at hand. She also guzzled some wine. Atta girl, Olivia.
There’s Something About Mellie
Mellie showed up to the White House soon after Olivia bolted. She walked in the Oval ready to get an apology from Fitz. She wanted him to admit it — he put Olivia in a position to get outed. At this point, she wasn’t just a mistress, she was America’s mistress. Mellie verbally tore Fitz apart. However, she said she would deny the affair if he apologized for the divorce papers. That’s all she wanted.
Fitz was unrelenting. He was sure Mellie leaked the photos. He believed handing the photos to Sally was Mellie’s way of trying to worm herself back into the White House. Mellie had an explanation as to why it couldn’t be her. As a new senator, Fitz and Olivia’s affair made her look weak and frigid. “America will never elect a woman who can’t get laid,” Mellie said.
“We are a team. I need you. You need me,” Mellie continued. She had a point, too. Seriously, all Fitz had to do was say the magic words, and she would make everything good again. This was what Fitz said: “get out.” He was still waiting with bated breath for Olivia to return.
In the midst of all this, Jake returned to OPA and brought Huck. Quinn was already there, and she was not happy to see Huck. Jake was his buddy, and he’d “fixed” him. But OPA didn’t have time for the Huckleberry Quinn drama. They had a case to solve. This guy named Gavin Price may have killed his father. Olivia vowed to find the son.
Gavin was chilling at a casino. He thought she was a bounty hunter. Then Jake showed up. Despite everything that had happened between them, Olivia and Jake were still friends. And Jake didn’t care one bit about Gavin, only Olivia. He wasn’t afraid to ask her the tough questions either. She wanted to be with Fitz so badly, so why was she running?
‘You Don’t Get To Be Everyone Else’
David went to see Mellie to check her computer. She was disappointed that this was Fitz’s move, but she had nothing to hide. Meanwhile, Cyrus was watching Abby like a hawk. He gave her some advice. He told her to be the adult, and Fitz would eventually fall in line. Abby needed to bring Mellie back to the White House.
So Abby went off on her own. At the next press briefing, Abby went rogue and said Mellie was still in the White House. Needless to say, Fitz was pissed. Abby went to Cyrus’ house, and he admitted she did everything right. She may have singlehandedly saved Fitz’s presidency. Now was the tough part. Red needed to tell Fitz what Olivia would want him to do.
VP Ross gave Fitz a huge guilt trip while Abby and Liz were running around. “I fell in love,” Fitz said. He was flawed just like everyone else. “You don’t get to be everyone else. That’s not the job you signed up for,” Susan said.
While Jake was off with Olivia, Quinn and Huck were forced to work together. It wasn’t going so well. They did learn that Gavin’s dad was changing his will and cutting Gavin out. Olivia and Jake still had Gavin, but he managed to get away when he outed her to a bunch of customers at a diner.
Olivia Drops The Mic
After a busy day, Olivia had finally had enough. The weight of everything was getting to her. She started crying. Thankfully, Jake was there. He laid down beside her. She admitted she was scared. Jake was there for her and sometimes words didn’t need to be said. He just let her talk. They ended up snuggling. Olivia confessed that she was running from the shame. She didn’t want to feel the dirtiness that comes with it.
“Liv, loving the president isn’t a crime,” Jake said, speaking all the truth.
Abby showed up to the White House balcony to deliver a reality check to Fitz, who was being kind of a tool. She told him Olivia was staying away because she knew the second she stepped back into the spotlight the scrutiny would be unbearable. It was too much for anyone to take on, no matter how much Olivia loved Fitz.
This must have gotten to Fitz. He apologized to Mellie and told her to come home. David had the report about the leak and gave it to Abby since Fitz didn’t want it. Abby discovered who leaked the photos — LIZ! In return for not outing her to Fitz, all Abby wanted was to be equals with Liz.
Jake and Olivia found Gavin at the house he was fixing up. He admitted he killed his father, so that case was closed. Quinn found Huck at a bar. She told Huck that there was something wrong with her, too. She was never going to be some all-American girl. They understood each other in all their effed up glory. Huckleberry Quinn was BACK!
On Olivia’s way back from solving her case, she listened to a voicemail from Fitz. He told her that he was going to deny Sally’s story. “I don’t want you to throw away your whole life just for me. I love you too much for that,” he said, making me cry all the tears. Fitz and Mellie were preparing to do a sit down interview to address the situation. Olivia got out of Jake’s car and into the spotlight. The media swarmed her and asked, “Are you the president’s mistress?”
That’s when Olivia dropped the mic. “Yes,” she said, rocking the entire Gladiator fandom to the core. Olivia admitting she’s Fitz’s mistress changes everything. I can’t even deal right now. OLITZ IS ALIVE AND KICKING.
