Selena Gomez has never felt better about her body, but she hasn’t always felt that way. The singer was brutally fat-shamed online for gaining weight earlier this year, and she reveals that all that hate helped inspire her new album, ‘Revival,’ which she says is ‘the best thing I’ve ever done.’
Take that, haters! Selena Gomez, 23, is moving onward and upward after cruel bullies fat-shamed her for gaining weight. In an all-new interview, she admits that she was “getting a lot of hate” for her body and “channeled that” into her new music. She wanted her voice to rise above the haters, and that’s exactly what Revival is about. Plus, she reveals which songs are about that tough time in her life!
“I was getting a lot of hate for my body and ‘you’re gaining weight,’ and so I was in Mexico and I was just feeling all of this stuff and I would be lying to you if I said it didn’t kind of hurt my feelings, but I kind of channeled that into my music,” Selena told Extra.

It appears Selena is referring to her trip to Mexico in April 2015. She showed off her curves in a tiny pink bikini. Unfortunately, the internet can be the worst and bullies poked fun at her curvier body.
“I felt like everybody was saying so much and I’m like, ‘I need to say something…’ [The songs I wrote] on the record are ‘Survivors,’ ‘Kill ’em with Kindness,’ and ‘Rise.’ It’s, it’s all geared towards me trying to be heard, and I think this is the best thing that I’ve ever done in my whole career and I’m so excited,” she continued in her interview.
Over the past few months, Selena has had no problem firing back at the fat-shamers. In May 2015, Selena allegedly blasted a commenter on Instagram for criticizing her about her weight.
We can’t wait to hear Selena’s new songs. So far, Selena has released “Good For You” and “Same Old Love.” They’ve both been amazing songs from the singer. While many think “Same Old Love” was inspired by Justin Bieber, 21, it was actually Tony Bennett, 89! Selena’s gotten a lot of inspiration for her new album, and we think it’s going to be her best yet.
