Looks like he’s serious, folks. Kanye West has confirmed, definitively, that he really will be running for president in 2020!
Yeezus for all! When Kanye West, 38, announced that he would be running for president at the MTV Video Music Awards, it’s not that we didn’t believe him, we kinda just thought he was being Kanye. Well, in a new interview, Kanye said once and for all that his presidential bid was no joke and he is running in 2020! See what he had to say!
Speaking to Vanity Fair, Kanye was asked whether he was still thinking about running. “Oh, definitely,” he said.
When the interviewer acknowledged that much of the public didn’t dismiss the idea of President West, Kanye said he understood why. “Especially from the six years of this misconception or the six years I went through of, ‘We don’t like Kanye,'” he said. “And then as soon as I said that, it was like, ‘Wait a second, we would really be into that, because actually if you think about it, he’s extremely thoughtful. Every time he’s ever gotten in trouble, he was really jumping in front of a bullet for someone else. He’s probably the most honest celebrity that we have.'”
Kanye also wanted to make sure that it was clear, if you think his presidential run is for fun, you are dead wrong. “No, the exact opposite,” he said. “I sit in clubs and I’m like, Wow, I’ve got five years before I go and run for office and I’ve got a lot of research to do, I’ve got a lot of growing up to do.”
Well, we won’t exactly say we’re sold on a West ’20 presidential ticket, however, let’s all acknowledge that there was a time when Donald Trump running seemed like a joke drawn up in the SNL writers room and now, well, did ya watch last week’s republican debate? Exactly.
What do you guys think about Kanye’s serious campaign? Would you vote for a President West?
