If you’re expecting Zachary Levi’s character on ‘Heroes Reborn’ to be anything like his character on ‘Chuck,’ then think again. The highly-anticipated miniseries premieres tonight, Sept. 24, and Zachary revealed that his character is ‘darker’ and way ‘more f–ked up’ than Chuck Bartowski.
Get ready for a whole new Zachary Levi, 34. The former Chuck actor is one of the many stars of Heroes Reborn, which premieres on Sept. 24, and his character is really “f–ked up.” Zachary teased that his character, Luke, may seem like a villain, but there is much more than meets the eye.
“My only prerequisite was I didn’t want to play Chuck again,” Zachary told our sister site TVLine about signing on to Heroes Reborn. “I really wanted to play something that was darker and grittier and edgier and more f—ked up. I wanted somebody that had some problems. One of the things that [series creator Tim Kring] pitched, which I loved so much about it, was [Luke] really winds up in a very conflicted spot.”

“I’m playing him the way that I feel is the most honest to the way he’s been written and what the trajectory is,” he continued. “Whether people see him as a villain or not is up to them. All the best villains are people who really believe that what they’re doing is the right thing to do, and it’s even more gray for Luke. It’ll be interesting to see what people’s reactions are to the first two episodes and then moving on after that, [in terms of] his particular journey and trajectory.”
After a terrorist attack, the heroes with extraordinary abilities are on the run after being blamed for the tragedy. The show also stars Jack Coleman, Ryan Guzman, Robbie Kay, Judith Shekoni and Gatlin Green.
Heroes Reborn premieres Sept. 24 at 8 p.m. ET on NBC.
