After 13 seasons, Alison Sweeney said goodbye to ‘The Biggest Loser,’ and hello to a new role! She stopped into our HollywoodLife.com studio for our podcast to preview her new Hallmark movie, ‘Love On the Air’ and her partnership with Sleep Number.
“The script was something I responded to right away when I read it I laughed out loud, and I immediately fell in love with the main character,” Alison Sweeney, 39, told HollywoodLife.com during this week’s interview. Of course, she’s talking about her new role of Sonia on the Hallmark Channel’s Love on the Air. Listen to the full interview here!
“She’s going big time, and on the big time channel is Nick (Jonathan Scarfe) who has a show called The Man Cave, in which he says all sorts of chauvinistic, misogynistic things and he’s all about loving them and leaving them and not letting a girl get to deep and who needs relationships,” Alison explains, before revealing that the two are forced to work together. Obviously it’s not so fun, but surprisingly off air, they end up enjoying each other’s banter — and “the romance ensues form there.”
Alison definitely has a track record of amazing love stories — we followed her romances throughout Days of Our Lives for years, and now she’ll be back! “I’m coming back on in October and then again in November for the 50th anniversary,” she said. Of course when you think of soaps, you know that you have to factor in the steamy love scenes, which her husband of 15 years, David Sanov, is okay with. “He knew what I did for a living, but I don’t think it mattered to him that much,” she said. “There’s certainly been awkward things that I’ve seen happen with other actors before who are jealous or their spouses are jealous, but I’ve never luckily had to deal with that.”
Life After ‘The Biggest Loser’
Most recently, Alison has decided to leave an eight-year hosting gig at The Biggest Loser. “It’s always hard to make a change like that, but for me, since I left, I’ve filmed three movies for the Hallmark Channel, I’ve written a novel, and I have another project in development with them and some other things,” she said, before adding she also gets home every night to make her kids dinner! “It’s been an incredible time for me, and I just have to be willing to take a risk. That’s what I would want my kids to do and I want to be a good role model to them.”
Now, she’s also partnered with Sleep Number. “It’s tough working a lot of hours and certainly working two jobs for seven years was incredibly taxing on me and my family and my body,” she told us. “That’s how I ended up working with sleep number because they really brought to my attention like this idea that I was chugging along at all of these jobs as if you can sleep when you’re dead mentality and the truth is the opposite… Now I have the Sleep IQ app on my phone so I know exactly how much I sleep — my goal is 8 hours and I usually get about 6.5 to 7.5 hours of sleep almost every night.”
