Don’t mess with 50 Cent! After Cookie Lyon, played by Taraji P. Henson, called the rapper ‘thirsty’ on the Sept. 23 premiere of ‘Empire,’ 50 Cent took to Instagram to sound off on the diss! Click to WATCH!
50 Cent, 40, wasn’t exactly thrilled being called “thirsty” on the season premiere of Empire. We all know that the rapper’s got beef with the hit FOX show, so it’s kind of surprising the show even went there. 50 Cent has responded to Cookie Lyon (Taraji P. Henson) calling him “thirsty” in a new Instagram video, and he said he was shocked by her words. 50 says that he “hit that” when referring to Cookie — what exactly is he referring to?!
Cookie called 50 Cent a “thirsty a**” after something he put on “the Gram.” Well, it’s been less than 24 hours since the premiere, and 50’s already responded to Cookie’s “thirsty” diss! The rapper broadcast his response for the world (and Cookie a.k.a. Taraji) to see!
“Can’t believe Cookie would say some sh*t like that about me,” 50 Cent says in the video. “Thirsty? Me? Thirsty? Come on. Ya stupid?” He follows up with, “Man, me and Cookie go way back — you know I hit that.”

Well, there’s something not quite right. Cookie is a fictional character, so it’s impossible for 50 Cent and Cookie to have been romantically involved. However, 50 Cent has never been shy about his feelings for Cookie’s alter-ego, Taraji. “Taraji, you fine motherf–er, I’m happy to date you one day,” 50 said in an interview with MTV. “How you know this ain’t the love connection we been waiting for girl? You know I say things I don’t mean.”
50 Cent hasn’t never exactly been Empire’s biggest fan. He once said the show was “like Glee with a little hip-hop music in it.” Maybe that’s because his show, Power, is often compared to Empire. 50 Cent told HollywoodLife.com that the real violence and relationship drama “gives us the edge to just beat anything that they consider competition for it,” including “PG-13 version of it.”
