Dating rumors went wild back in May when Michael B. Jordan was spotted leaving a Met Gala after party with Kendall Jenner. Now after months of speculating, the actor himself is finally dishing about their status for the first time — and his answer may surprise you!
The rumor mill was kicked into overdrive back in May, when Michael B. Jordan, 28, was spotted leaving a Met Gala after party at the same time as Kendall Jenner, 19. Though sources immediately denied any sort of relationship, people couldn’t help but wonder what was going on between the two — some even got a little upset over it. Now, for the first time, the Fantastic Four actor himself is addressing the rumors, thus giving us the answer we’ve all been waiting for: are they, or aren’t they?
They aren’t! In a new interview for his GQ cover story, Jordan opens up about being linked with the sexy supermodel and why his fans were so hostile to the idea. “It’s the world we live in. They see white and black. I don’t,” he reveals. “Kendall’s a friend of mine, you know. I don’t know her, like, that well, but I know her enough. People’s perspective on that is what it is. I don’t fucking know. I don’t live my life to make other people happy. It’s so weird, though, right? A lot of black fans were feeling like ‘Oh, my god, he should have been with a black woman’ and that whole thing.”
Still, regardless of what her race or ethnicity may be — and he certainly doesn’t care about that either way: “It’s 2015, it’s okay!” — Jordan admits that he has no interest in a relationship with Kendall, or any woman for that matter, at this time. “I try and be focused,” he says of his professional focus, which has kept him girlfriend-free for quite some time. “I told myself at a young age that I would sacrifice all my twenties to my work. I’m 28. I’ve got a year and a half left…I’m emotionally unavailable. Until I find something that’s so undeniable that I can’t help myself.”
In the meantime, the Friday Night Lights alum is busy gearing up for his upcoming role as Apollo Creed in the Rocky spin-off, Creed — a film that has brought out his competitive side to say the least. When asked about how the film would compare to Jake Gyllenhaal‘s, 34, new boxing flick, Southpaw, Michael responded: “Physically…fuck Jake, fuck Gyllenhaal, fuck all that shit. We want to come for him, look better than him. You know, I’m competitive, so in my head it was, ‘Imma work harder than all of them.’ Fuck that.” We’ll see if Creed is a match for Southpaw when it hits theaters Nov. 25.
