The beauty inspiration at Mara Hoffman’s Spring/Summer 2016 Fashion Week collection came from an unexpected source — Willie Nelson! His double braided pigtail hairstyle served as Mara’s take on classic Americana, and it’s a look we’ve already seen celebs sporting.
We can always count on Mara Hoffman to give us a good braided look to copy backstage at New York Fashion Week. But this time around, she showed us a much simpler style that Khloe Kardashian and boho-babe Vanessa Hudgens have already mastered. Get the exact backstage how-to, below!
Using label.m hair products, Richard Mannah created the ’70s-inspired braided style to pair alongside Mara’s flowy pants and dresses in soft prints, pastels and neutrals. To start, Richard prepped the models’ damp hair with label.m Volume Mousse, applying it from roots to ends.
Once hair was dried, it was given a clean middle part and 30 inches of extensions were stitched into the models’ hair for a super long, uniform look (though you can just as easily create the braids without them on hair that’s shoulder-length or longer).
To add a bit of grip to the hair to make the braiding process easier, label.m Wax Stick was used before creating a classic braid on each side (more like Vanessa’s as opposed to Khloe’s more complicated reverse French braided style). Accessorize with a bandana like the girls at Mara or wear them on their own like Vanessa and Khloe did.
Braided Pigtails At Mara Hoffman — Copy The Celeb-Approved Trend
The makeup was kept natural with moisturized and contoured, bronzed skin for definition. Brushed-up brows, a touch of mascara and a nude lip rounded out the look.
What do you think of the double braided look? Will you be copying Khloe and Vanessa (and the runway)?
