Like many of us, Jon Stewart is petrified at the thought of President Donald Trump– but Jon is a man with a plan. If Trump is elected, Jon will leave the planet. Simple enough!
We hear ya, dude. Following his big wins at the 2015 Emmy Awards on Sept. 20, Jon Stewart was asked whether he’d consider returning to his now departed The Daily Show if Donald Trump is actually elected president in 2016. Well, Jon is not interested in returning to the desk, however, he is interested in procuring a spaceship and getting the heck off of planet earth!
“No,” Jon told reporters when he was asked if Trump’s election would make him consider reprising his role as Daily Show host. “I would consider getting in a rocket and going to another planet because clearly this planet has gone bonkers.”
Speaking of Donald Trump, Jon was also asked about intolerance and how his show had helped to usher in more understanding of political and religious beliefs. “I was under the impression that we had fixed all that with the show,” Jon joked. “But you’re saying we didn’t? Son of a bitch. That’s so much a part of a larger question than I think a comedy show could ever answer… Maybe one day a comedy show will say, ‘Okay, here’s your answer.’ But until then, I think Adult Swim comes closest.”
So, Jon’s time on television is done for now, making way for new Daily Show host, Trevor Noah. Did Jon have any words of wisdom for the incoming emcee? “[Trevor] is such a talented guy and has such a great foundation for this, it’s not a question about giving him advice,” Jon said. “It’s just about being there to support him.”
What do you think of Jon’s defense plan for Trump being elected? Are you on board to populate a new planet alongside him?
