No one messes with Joey Tribbiani — and that means you, Jimmy Kimmel. Jimmy shared a hilarious pic from the Emmys on Sept. 20 after he took the stage to present the award for Lead Actor In A Comedy Series — and Matt LeBlanc did not win. Looks like he got him back!
On stage at the 2015 Emmys, Jimmy Kimmel decided to cut a hole in the envelope where the winner of Outstanding Lead Actor In A Comedy Series was written. He then said he could give the award to anyone he wanted to: “If the card says Louis C.K. and I say the Emmy goes to Matt LeBlanc, what are they going to do, stop the show? Are Ernst & Young going to hop on stage and wrestle the Emmy away from Joey Tribbiani? I don’t think so.” Well, when it was Jeffrey Tambor who won, not Matt, he responded in the best way ever!
“I’m sorry Matt LeBlanc #Emmys,” Jimmy posted on Twitter afterward, with a photo of Matt holding the envelope, and in the spot that was cut out was his middle finger.
In case you missed it during the show, Jimmy totally took over the show (and pretty much made his case for hosting next year’s Emmys) when he ate part of the envelope. “They keep these envelopes in a locked brief case attached to a man’s wrist, there’s so much security and then they just hand it to me. Now really, I can give the Emmy to whoever I want. What are they going to do, stop the show?” he said. “I have so much power right now. So now I don’t know what to do here. Let’s see what’s on it. You know if I tear the card or I could eat the card, although I don’t want to eat the card. So I’ll just cut the name part so the name is right on here now, and I’ll eat it.”
Of course, he also made that Joey Tribbiani joke, and got this response:
