Kim Kardashian is one of Caitlyn Jenner’s biggest supporters and fans. But, in a new post on her website, KimKardashianWest.com, Kim admits that Bruce Jenner’s transition into Caitlyn has been ‘weird’ for her.
Everyone was surprised when Bruce Jenner finally revealed Caitlyn Jenner, 65, to the world but Kim Kardashian, 34, had known all about his true identity since she was 21-years-old! In a new post, Kim explained why she kept Cait a secret for over ten years. She even admitted that seeing her stepfather successfully transition into Caitlyn is still kind of “weird.”
Kim opened up to all her fans with a new feature on her website, KimKardashianWest.com, and on her new app. In “From The Desk Of: About Caitlyn,” Kimmie said that had she not “overheard my dad [Robert Kardashian] and his friends discussing rumors that Bruce would dress up as a woman years before (when I was about 11 years old), I never would have believed what I was seeing” when she caught Bruce wearing women’s clothes.
Kim only told her sister, Kourtney Kardashian, about what she saw. “We did not tell my mom,” she wrote, adding, “I guess I thought it would break up her marriage, and Kendall [Jenner] and Kylie [Jenner] were so young … I just felt so bad.” Bruce finally talked to Kim about the incident when she was 30. Bruce explained, “He always felt he was trapped in the wrong body,” said Kim. Though Bruce told her that he was undergoing therapy, Kim wrote how she never could imagine Bruce would transition into Caitlyn.
“When I began seeing pictures of Bruce with his nails painted and those reports that he had his trachea shaved, I started to freak out,” she wrote. “That’s when we started to talk about it; at that point, I still thought he wanted it to be a secret. I didn’t understand why he was being careless and getting caught if he didn’t want to reveal anything.” Kim said that Bruce was “leaving clues for people to find out,” and that after seeing a therapist, he “decided that’s how he wanted to live his life.”
Kim admitted that, while she supports her with all her heart, it’s still strange to have Bruce become Caitlyn. “Is it weird for me? Yes, this person has been my stepdad for half my life,” Kim wrote. “But life is just about being happy — that’s the one common denominator that everyone can understand. If you aren’t able to be you, who can you be?”
“I’m just so proud of Caitlyn, and our relationship is even stronger now,” Kim added. “And, after all, she asks me for style and glam tips all the time. What’s more fun than that?”
What do you think about Kim keeping Cait a secret, HollywoodLifers? Are you glad that even though it’s kind of weird, Kim is so supportive of her?
