Big changes are on the way on ‘Grey’s Anatomy.’ Meredith life is so much different after saying goodbye to Derek Shepherd last season complete with sledgehammers, punches and more! Click to WATCH the first trailer for season 12 now!
It’s been a year since Derek Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey) died, and “everything has changed” for the doctors at Grey-Sloan Memorial Hospital. The first trailer for Grey’s Anatomy season 12 previews a chaotic and fun season. Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) is living a very hectic life with her two kids, especially with new roommates. Plus, Maggie (Kelly McCreary) totally punches a woman in the face.
“You’re about to find out that everything has changed,” Meredith’s signature voice-over promises in the trailer. Yeah, that’s an understatement. It’s been one year since the tragedy of Derek’s death, Meredith is still adapting to all that life is throwing at her.
Cue the alarm clock that always manages to ring at the wrong time. Toys are all over the place in Meredith’s place — it happens when you’ve got two young kids running around! She runs downstairs to find Jo taking a sledgehammer to one of the walls! Doing some redecorating, huh?
But let’s get to the juicy drama: the hospital. Maggie literally punches a woman in the face! Hold up. How and why?! We need answers!
Fans were definitely upset that Derek was killed off in season 11, but Ellen doesn’t want fans to worry about the state of the show. She can carry the show without him. “It’s like, Annalise Keating carries the show, Olivia Pope carries the show,” Ellen told EW. “But somehow, Meredith Grey needs someone. Why can’t I just be the lead of the show the way Annalise and Olivia can? Why can’t I be on that poster by myself?”
Grey’s Anatomy season 12 premieres Sept. 24 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
