Ronda Rousey Cast In ‘Road House’ Remake — Taking On Patrick Swayze’s Role – Hollywood Life

Ronda Rousey Cast In ‘Road House’ Remake In Patrick Swayze’s Role

Ronda Rousey's used to taking a hit, but this time she'll be taking a huge jump -- from the ring to the big screen. While the UFC fighter has been on film before, we have a feeling that the remake of 'Road House,' the 1989 classic will be a whole new work for her. Ronda Rousey, 28, can totally pass as a bouncer, right? The UFC Champion is officially taking on the role of a lifetime in the remake of Road House -- and she's stepping into the late Patrick Swayze's shoes. That's right, she will be playing the lead role that he played, and is looking forward to making the film a "tribute" for his family.

“It is a great honor to play a part in celebrating the life of a man that inspired so many. I couldn’t be more grateful to have this opportunity to pay respect to the beloved Patrick Swayze. I promise to work incessantly to make sure this project is a tribute his friends and family can be proud of,” Ronda tweeted on Sept. 9, linking to our sister site, Variety, who broke the story.

Patrick played the role of a bouncer at one of the loudest Missouri bars, The Double Deuce, who ends up finding himself in the middle of a corrupt business deal. As for Ronda, she’s excited to star in the remake, according to Variety, but their sources also say she wanted to be sure she was respectful. She even reportedly reached out to his widow, Lisa Niemi for her blessing.

Ronda’s career is absolutely blowing up right now, and this is the fourth film that was made with her in mind: her biopic My Fight/Your FightThe Athena Project; and Mile 22 are also in the works. She is also gearing up for her next UFC fight against Holly Holm, set for Nov. 14. Shop ‘Road House’ Here!
