The Weeknd, AKA Abel Tesfaye, 25, put on an amazing performance at the MTV VMAs on Aug. 30 at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, CA, moving the crowd with the funky beat of “Can’t Feel My Face”. The Weeknd is one of Canada’s best exports, as he proved on the California stage tonight. This is the first time “Can’t Feel My Face” has been performed on TV, and The Weeknd definitely did the live premiere justice. He crooned to a pulsating red background, and towards the end, a fire ring with sixteen-foot flames appeared. It was a perfect callback to the music video, which The Weeknd’s also on fire in (don’t worry, he survived both times). As host Miley Cyrus commented: “All that fire, and all that hair? That sh*t is f*cking crazy and it don’t get much crazier than me!” Kanye West and Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez danced along with the equally obsessed crowd, and this definitely will go down as one of the most memorable performances of the evening!
Other Standout Moments At The 2015 MTV VMAs
We’ve had the pleasure of witnessing tons of amazing performers tonight like Taylor Swift’s duet with Nicki Minaj, as well as the hilarious antics of host Miley Cyrus. There was also an amazing performance by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis of “Downtown”. The Video Music Awards are all about the videos, of course, but nothing beats seeing our favorite artists perform live! Then there’s the crazy red carpet outfits we’ve seen, like Kourtney Kardashian‘s hot pink jumpsuit and Justin Bieber‘s sexy cowboy look. Finally, there was the premiere of Taylor Swift’s “Wildest Dreams” music video — it’s a must-watch!
