Could you imagine if Uncle Jesse wasn’t named Uncle Jesse? Well, according to Lifetime’s new tell-all movie, ‘The Unauthorized Full House Story’ John Stamos actually created that name — for a really creative reason. Watch the clip here.
John Stamos, played by (Miley Cyrus‘ ex, Justin Gaston) is responsible for our favorite Uncle’s name! In this new clip of The Unauthorized Full House Story, which is set to air on Saturday on Lifetime, we see a look at John’s conversation with creator Jeff Franklin (played by Matthew Kevin Anderson), where they talk about the pilot of Full House — and why Uncle Adam should be Uncle Jesse.
“I had this idea that I wanted to pitch you,” Jesse says in the clip. “You know Elvis had a twin brother? His name was Jesse. He died at childbirth, but that’s not the point. So I’m thinking, maybe that’s who that character is — not Uncle Adam, but Uncle Jesse.”
Jeff’s answer was easy: “I love it!” And with that, the name was changed. Now of course we know this movie won’t be following exactly what happens in the show, but it’s pretty close. The first clip we told you about was when John Stamos’ character was actually trying to get one of the Olsen twins fired — and that ended up to be completely accurate.
John Stamos Admits Movie Is Pretty Accurate
During TCA’s Summer Press tour in Beverly Hills, John admitted the clip was honestly what happened.
“The Olsen twins cried a lot,” he said about the clip of his character yelling at the twins. “It was very difficult to get the shot. So that actually is 100 percent accurate. I said, ‘Get those kids…’ [gestures to get rid of them] and they brought in a couple of unattractive red-headed kids. We tried that for a while and that didn’t work. ‘Alright, get the Olsen twins back.’ That’s the story.”
Well we’re excited to watch Lifetime’s The Unauthorized Full House Story on Saturday, August 22 at 8PM ET.
