Cristina and Owen BACK TOGETHER?! Yes please. Sandra Oh may have left ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ but the love between she and Kevin McKidd is forever. And this new pic proves it.
Sandra Oh returned to Twitter after three months off and in the best way possible. The Grey’s Anatomy alum shared an adorable photo with her ex co-star Kevin McKidd, who in case you didn’t remember, played her husband/ex/on-again/off-again beau while on the show. Of course, this made us seriously excited for the show to return, but also, really wanting Cristina to come back to the show!
“Me & @TheRealKMcKidd at his belated bday dinner. May u catch Brave New Waves all this year dearest friend,” Sandra Oh captioned her Twitter pic on Aug. 18.
Ever since Sandra, who played Cristina on the show, left at the end of season 10, we’ve been craving some Cristina-Owen romance in our lives. However, he has now moved on with Derek’s (RIP!) sister, Amelia Shepherd (Caterina Scorsone). Fans have always hoped that one day Cristina could make a return — especially now that her “person,” Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) has lost her husband.
When leaving the show, Sandra revealed that saying goodbye to that Cristina/Meredith friendship was not easy.
“The one line that was the most filled for me was when Cristina says, ‘You and I, Mer, we’re not finished,'” Sandra told THR. At the wrap party, they showed the famous scene where Cristina asks Meredith to be her person. From that to the point where Cristina is saying, “You and I are not finished,” is like the two sides of one coin. Their love is like that. I felt very fulfilled with Cristina saying goodbye to Meredith. I have to give Cristina her space and her truth to say goodbye to her best friend. These two know what’s coming, which is a great change in their lives. That’s how I want to frame it, with all the feelings that come along with it. This great change is happening and eventually Cristina has to ask Meredith to help her with the final change. ‘I need you to help me to change,’ she says or, ‘… to make this change.'”
Well, we have hope that someway, we’ll see Cristina again, but until then, this photo will have to fill our nostalgic hearts.
