Zayn Malik has opted out of appearing at the Teen Choice Awards, even though he’s up for the Choice Male Hottie prize, and HollywoodLife.com can EXCLUSIVELY reveal why. Read the full details right here!
Zayn Malik, 22, has decided against attending the Teen Choice Awards, despite being nominated for an award for his good looks, and HollywoodLife.com has EXCLUSIVELY learned the real reason he’s missing the show!
Zayn, who could have potentially faced awkward reunion with ex Perrie Edwards, 22, and her Little Mix bandmates, was eager to avoid the possible encounter. He also didn’t feel comfortable accepting the Choice Male Hottie award against his former 1D pals.
“Zayn is in LA and easily could have attended the awards, but he didn’t want to deal with all the drama,” a source tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY. “Not only Perrie, but being nominated against 1D for Choice Male Hottie makes him uncomfortable, too. He is going to steer clear of the whole scene.”
Sounds like a wise decision. Especially if your ex is going. There’s absolutely no need for any additional drama. We also learned that Zayn is worried Perrie and Little Mix may diss him if they win for Choice Music Group: Female.
Zayn’s personal life has overshadowed his working life after his 1D exit, and he lost a lot of favor after dumping Perrie by text. Zayn also asked Perrie to move her stuff out of their shared home in London, Daily Mirror claimed. Yikes!

As HollywoodLife.com previously reported, there’s definitely no love lost between Zayn and Perrie. In fact, he blatantly dissed her and her bandmates on Twitter.
When a question posed on Twitter by Shady Music Facts, asking fans to choose between Fifth Harmony’s “Worth It” and Little Mix’s “Black Magic” by retweeting for Fifth Harmony or favoriting for Little Mix, Zayn made jaws drop. Yep, he retweeted, which means he was voting against Perrie and Little Mix! Harsh! Their feud shows no sign of calming down any time soon.
