‘It’s amazing to finally feel right,’ Ariel Winter gushes. After struggling with her size 32 F breasts for years, the ‘Modern Family’ star opens up about her decision to get a breast reduction in a new interview, revealing the ‘relief’ she finally feels to be comfortable in her own skin.
At just 17 years old, Ariel Winter has gone through a major procedure to reduce the size of her breasts. But rather than keeping quiet about the transformation, the actress is telling her story, revealing why she knew she had to go through with the surgery, despite her age, and explaining how much it’s changed her for the better.
Before her operation on June 4, 2015, Ariel had a size 32 F chest, and she was just 5’1″ tall. The growth happened ‘overnight,’ and “It started to hurt so bad that I couldn’t take the pain,” she emotionally reveals to Glamour magazine. Finally, she decided to put the pain behind her, and reduce her 32 Fs to 34 Ds, and now, she says she “feels like a new person.”
“I had a lot of back problems,” Ariel admits to the mag. “I really couldn’t’ stand up straight for a long period of time. My neck was hurting so bad and I actually had some problems with my spine. I had been discussing my chest with my doctors for many years, but when I finally said, ‘I’m thinking of doing this,’ he said, ‘Your back is going to thank you so much.'”
Despite considering surgery for a while, the actress reminisces on one instance that really pushed her to go for it. “I went into a swimsuit store with my cousin a few months ago and couldn’t find a bathing suit that fit me,” she explains. “I really felt bad about myself. I didn’t feel happy.” It also didn’t help that her curves and breasts were such a topic of discussion on major red carpets. “We live in a day and age where everything you do is ridiculed,” she adds. “The Internet bullies are awful. I would post a photo where I feel good, and 500 people will comment about how fat I am, and that I am disgusting.
No Turning Back
And once she made the decision to go for it, there was no turning back. “I wasn’t hesitant at all,” she gushes. “I wasn’t sad. I was really so thrilled about it and the idea of not being burdened with these any longer. I think going into the surgery that morning was the only time I ever felt nervous or a little scared, just because I had never had surgery before, not because of what I was going to get done.”
Post-surgery, she could’t be happier. “I feel great. It was such a quick recovery for me,” Ariel admits. I was up and running within five days. The feeling of not having so much there was such a relief! Once the surgery was completed, I can’t even explain the feeling. [A week later], I was buying clothes and crying as I put them on, I was so happy. You just feel relieved and excited. You feel like a new person. You feel like this is how I was supposed to be.
We can’t WAIT to see what Ariel picks to wear at the Emmy Awards on Sept. 20, 2015 now that she’s so comfortable in her skin! What do you think of her decision to open up and share the story, HollywoodLifers?
