Shawn Robinson, a veteran Hollywood stuntman, has died. Shawn, who was working on the upcoming film Deepwater Horizon before his death, was found dead in his hotel room on July 28. A cause of death has not been revealed.
One of Shawn’s fellow stuntman went looking for Shawn when he didn’t show up for work on Deepwater Horizon on July 28. according to our sister site Deadline. The stuntman found Shawn dead in his hotel room. The cause of Shawn’s death has not been released because of pending toxicology results.
Lionsgate released the following statement regarding Shawn’s death: “On behalf of the producers, cast and crew of Deepwater Horizon and the entire Lionsgate family, we want to send our most heartfelt condolences to the family of Shawn Robinson. Shawn was a gifted stunt performer and a beloved and trusted member of our crew. We grieve with his family over this tremendous loss.”
Deepwater Horizon is an upcoming 2016 film that stars Mark Wahlberg, Dylan O’Brien and Kate Hudson. The movie is about the offshore drilling rig that exploded in April 2010, causing the worst oil spill in U.S. history.
Shawn’s stuntman credits include Guardians of the Galaxy, the first three Transformers movies, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, The Lone Ranger, Fast & Furious, X-Men: The Last Stand, War Of The Worlds and The Lost World: Jurassic Park. He is also credited as a stunt rigger for the 2016 TV movie Pee-wee’s Big Holiday. Shawn was the son of legendary Hollywood stuntman Dar Robinson.
