Chris Brown won’t give up when it comes to his daughter, Royalty! In an explosive interview, the singer’s family attorney opens up EXCLUSIVELY to HollywoodLife.com about Chris’ custody battle with Nia Guzman, and reveals how the 1-year-old is sadly being used as a ‘pawn’ in her parents’ lawsuit.
Poor Royalty. The adorable toddler is too young to know what’s going on just yet, but there’s some major drama going down between her parents, Nia Guzman, 31, and Chris Brown, 26. Now that Nia has allegedly filed for full custody of the 1-year-old, Chris is fighting back, and his family attorney is telling HollywoodLife.com all about it EXCLUSIVELY.
“It’s a tragedy when children are used as pawns in a lawsuit,” John “Bo” Nichols, Chris’ family law attorney, tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY. “In order to get one thing, people barter with something else — a child, for instance. We have a 1-year-old we’re trying to protect, and we want her to have consistent and systematic contact with both her parents.”
This statement from Mr. Nichols comes after the “Loyal” singer shared some very telling tweets about the subject on Twitter. “Some men my age my age run from their responsibility as fathers,” he wrote on Aug. 7. “I embrace mine. Just sucks that some females use children as meal tickets. Using a child as leverage is never ok. The highest praise to the men who actually want their kids.”
Nia reportedly filed for full custody of Royalty, which would mean, if Chris is determined as the father, he’d have to pay her more child support. Of course, Chris didn’t specifically mention Nia in his tweets, but it definitely seems like the “meal ticket” comment is directed toward her a legged decision to seek full custody.
At this point, though, the 26-year-old’s relationship with Royalty is completely in Nia’s hands…because he’s not even listed as the father on the little girl’s birth certificate! In order to fight back against Nia’s custody lawsuit, Chris has plans to take a paternity test, which will prove he’s the dad. It’s a lot of work, but Chris loves his daughter SO much, he’s made it clear he’s willing to do just about anything to be part of her life.
Tell us, HollywoodLifers: Do you think Royalty is being used as a ‘pawn’ in Nia and Chris’ fight?
