Kelly Clarkson is just killing it with her covers lately! The 33-year-old singer took on Taylor Swift’s hit ‘Blank Space’ in concert on July 25 and as expected, she totally nailed it. Watch the video here!
Kelly Clarkson, 33, has been slaying covers left and right as of late, impressing us with incredible renditions of Rihanna’s “B**** Better Have My Money,” Sam Smith’s “Stay With Me,” and Nick Jonas‘ “Jealous.” Now, for her latest cover coup, the American Idol winner has taken on Taylor Swift’s uber-popular hit “Blank Space,” and no surprises here, it’s total perfection!
It’s no secret that Kelly is a huge T-Swift fan, so of course, when a concert-goer requested that she cover “Blank Space” at a sold-out concert at Toronto’s Molson Canadian Amphitheatre on July 25, Kelly delivered like no other. In the video, the “Since U Been Gone” singer completely transforms the chart-topping hit, and (dare we say) may have even improved upon it. Slowing things down with a more soulful version, Kelly had the crowd singing along to the hit in only the way she can. Seriously, prepare to feel feelings you never thought you had!
Of course, this isn’t the first time that Kelly has covered a fan-favorite jam on stage. While traveling the country for the Piece by Piece Tour, the 33-year-old gave her own spin on everything from ‘N Sync’s “Bye Bye Bye” to Tracy Chapman’s “Give Me One Reason” among others. She’s also covered Taylor’s No. 1 hit “Shake It Off,” which earned rave reviews from the “1989” singer herself. With Kelly’s latest cover, Taylor even took to Twitter to commend her, writing, “Kelly Clarkson covered Blank Space and YES.” Is it possible that we’ll be seeing these two together in concert in the near future? One could only hope!
Tell us HollywoodLifers — whose version of “Blank Space” do you like better? Kelly or Taylor’s?
