Is Slim Shady trading his native Detroit for Compton? With the upcoming N.W.A. biopic, ‘Straight Outta Compton,’ causing a buzz, there’s talk about having Eminem join the remaining members of the group for an epic reunion tour!
Wow! Fans are hyped to see Straight Outta Compton, the film that tells the story of N.W.A, the rap group — featuring Dr. Dre, 50, Ice Cube, 46, MC Ren, 46, and Eazy-E — that took the hip-hop world by storm. Fans wanting to see N.W.A. on the big screen might now get a chance to see them in person. The head of the studio releasing the movie said there’s a possible reunion tour in the works and it may include Eminem!
“I’ve always been very intrigued by the [N.W.A] story,” Universal Pictures chief Donna Langley told The Hollywood Reporter. Donna’s interest in the hip-hop group that popularized gangsta rap didn’t end with green lighting the Straight Outta Compton flick. She’s so excited for the film that her studio is reportedly working on a N.W.A. European reunion tour, with Eminem, 42, joining as an honorary member!
“We don’t have anything settled yet with everyone’s schedules,” Donna said. “But we think it can create a lot of buzz.” No kidding! Eminem would step in for the late Eazy-E (born Eric Wright) who passed away in 1995 due to complications stemming from AIDS.
Whoa. We bet that European fans love a N.W.A. reunion, especially one featuring Slim Shady! There have been a handful of semi-reunions, like the Up In Smoke Tour in 2000 that had members of N.W.A. join Snoop Dogg on stage. A reported comeback album that featured Dre, Cube and Ren (along with Snoop and Eminem) was planned, but never materialized. Cross your fingers if you want to see N.W.A. in person. Hopefully, they can work out the deets and finally get the band back together.
If Shady needs someone to cover his dates while he goes out and performs with N.W.A., maybe he can ring up Daniel Radcliffe? The Harry Potter star dropped a decent rendition of “The Real Slim Shady” during a karaoke session. After a dye job and a costume change, Daniel might just pass for an Eminem stand-in. Though, that would get a lot of people to really ask, “Will the real Slim Shady please stand up?”
Would you go see a N.W.A. reunion tour, HollywoodLifers? Do you think Eminem’s a good fit, or should they pick someone else?
