The premiere of ‘Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll’ may not be what you were expecting, but it actually may be better. Awkwardly timed Bruce Jenner jokes aside, Denis Leary and John Corbett will most likely be your new must-watch pair.
Meet Johnny Rock (Denis Leary), a washed up ’80s rock band singer, who’s been trying to find a way to make it by, while still having the life of a rockstar. However after trying to hook up with a girl and finding out she was his daughter, he quickly has a rude awakening. And just like that, everything’s about to change.
So, what’s his daughter want? Well, Gigi (Elizabeth Gillies) came to NYC to be a famous singer, and she wants her dad’s help. Why would he do it? Well, she has the money he needs. What’s the tough part? He’s not famous anymore, but his ex-bandmates that he screwed over (and I mean literally screwed their wives/partners) are. Flash (John Corbett) is Lady Gaga‘s guitarist and is ready to help for one reason: Gigi’s hot.
So, after wasting every penny on drugs and still not becoming a rockstar, he’s forced to get The Heathens back together to help her. With his longtime girlfriend, Ava (Elaine Hendrix), ready to help, Johnny and the boys are back — and it’s not going to be easy. But it is going to be FUN.
The ensemble in the first 22-minute episode has incredible chemistry, and Denis brings that hilarious, ridiculous humor we’ve been missing. With the upbeat energy and insane visuals, this show is definitely one worth watching. Plus, I mean, is it just me or is John Corbett just getting better looking year after year? (He’ll still always be Aiden, in my mind.)
What did you think of the premiere, HollywoodLifers?
