The literary world is on fire! ‘To Kill A Mockingbird’s famous lawyer Atticus Finch — who is one of the most beloved characters in American literature, has a new persona in Harper Lee’s sequel. His famous character is now portrayed as a racist and fans are freaking out!
Harper Lee‘s Go Set A Watchman hasn’t even hit the shelves yet, and already it has created an uproar. A major character Atticus Finch, who started out as a small town Alabama lawyer in the first book, has a different persona in the second. He is portrayed as a bigot who attends a Ku Klux Klan meeting and opposes desegregation!
After the New York Times published their review of Go Set A Watchman on July 10, fans have been fuming. Their review revealed Atticus Finch has grown into a racist. Yes, one of everyone’s favorite literary characters has a giant flaw. Talk about a shocking twist. Well, fans have taken to Twitter to share their distaste for the To Kill a Mockingbird sequel.
Not sure I want to read #GoSetAWatchman with all these Atticus Finch revelations. I just want To Kill A Mockingbird to stay the book I know.
