Julianne Hough now has her leading man! The news just broke that Fox’s live musical of ‘Grease’ has cast its Danny Zuko: Broadway star, Aaron Tveit.
I’ve got chills, they’re multiplying! Aaron Tveit, who you may remember as the gorgeous Trip Van der Bilt on Gossip Girl or his incredible Broadway shows, is putting on his leather jacket as Danny Zuko. He will play alongside Julianne Hough was announced as Sandy, Vanessa Hudgens as Rizzo, Keke Palmer as Marty — and a bring new Kenickie.
“I’m thrilled and honored to be joining this incredibly talented team of actors in re-imagining this classic and beloved musical,” Aaron said in a Fox press release. “Playing Danny Zuko is a dream role and I can’t wait to be a part of all the fun that comes along with performing live on television.”
Aaron is currently on Graceland as FBI rookie Mike Warren, and has quite the list of acting credits. He starred on Broadway’s Catch Me if You Can and created the role of “Gabe” in Next to Normal. As for TV, he’s guest-starred on The Good Wife, Law & Order: SVU and Ugly Better. His last role before Graceland was “Enjolras” in the film adaptation of Les Miserables.
Last month we spoke to Aaron about returning to sining. “I am planning to go back to New York and put together two separate concerts. I did something similar a few years ago that went really really well so my plan is to work with my music director and put together a few new shows and do some more fun concerts in New York, because I do miss singing even though I love my current job,” he told us exclusively. “Singing is one thing I don’t get to do as often as I would like so I want to take it upon myself to get that going again!”
The other news in the press release included the casting of Danny’s BFF in the film, “Kenickie,” when went to Big Time Rush‘s Carlos PenaVega. Do you think the casting is good?
