This is so sad. The star of 1987’s ‘Can’t Buy Me Love,’ Amanda Peterson, has died at the young age of 43. Unfortunately, no cause of death has been confirmed yet.
Amanda Peterson, 43, was sadly found dead inside her Greeley, Colorado home after reportedly passing in her sleep. The last time any of Amanda’s friends of family heard from her was on July 2, and her body was eventually discovered on July 5 after they became increasingly concerned about her whereabouts.
Although her acting career came to an end in the early 90’s, you may recognize the beautiful Amanda Peterson from her lead role alongside Patrick Dempsey in the 80’s classic, Can’t Buy Me Love. Sadly, the actress passed away over the July 4th weekend, TMZ has confirmed. Amanda’s husband, David Hartley, and their two children are her sole survivors.
Amanda’s cause of death has yet to be determined, but the actress reportedly suffered from severe health issues for the past two years of her short life. “She had some illness and a sleep apnea problem that may have contributed,” Amanda’s father told TMZ, suggesting that she may have passed in her sleep. The report also claims that she recently suffered from pneumonia and sinusitis, allegedly caused by living in a home with “mold issues.” Although Amanda had moved out of the tainted home about one year before her death, it appears her suffering continued.
As her most well known co-star, Patrick has yet to release a statement about Amanda’s passing. However, actress Sarah Michelle Gellar paid tribute to the actress by tweeting, “When I was younger, I used to want to be #AmandaPeterson. I even asked my mom for a white leather fringe jacket #RipAmandaPeterson.” So sad.
Our thoughts remain with Amanda’s family and friends during this very difficult time.
