This will likely make you cry from laughter so beware. A first teaser for ‘Difficult People,’ the new series from executive producer Amy Poehler starring Billy Eichner, has just been released and it is equal parts hilarious and inappropriate. Watch it immediately!
In Difficult People, which will debut on Hulu on Aug. 5, comedians Billy Eichner and Julie Klausner will play (semi) fictional versions of themselves: best friends who are, yup, very difficult. In this first look at the ridiculous new series, we see just how difficult the two will be. Yeah, a funeral is the setting. The series will come to us from executive producer/comedy rockstar Amy Poehler, so you know we’re in good– and boundary-pushing– hands. Check out the clip now!
In the 8-episode series, which is written by Julie and will be brought to life with the executive prowess of Amy, we’ll get to know Billy and Julie, two struggling comedians who continue to stand in their own way. The two essentially hate everything and everyone, and they (accurately) believe they are the smartest and funniest people in every room they walk into. Even if that room happens to be a funeral.
“I am starving,” Julie bemoans as she and Billy sit perched in a pew, swiping on their iPhones. “I know, I’m trying to order food, there’s no wi-fi,” Billy responds. The pity party continues as they acquiesce at the lunch options available to them. “You know what food they’re gonna have in this neighborhood is Turkish food and Tapas,” Billy says.
And then, as you do at a funeral, Julie says the only thing she can. “Why is this happening to us?” she nearly screams.
So inappropriate. So funny.
What do you think of the first clip? Are you going to watch Difficult People?
