‘Degrassi: The Next Generation’ Cast Reunion: See Paige, Spinner & More
It’s been a while since we have seen the original ‘Degrassi: The Next Generation’ kids together, but three of our faves joined forces for a highly anticipated reunion photo! While we would die to see an onscreen reunion, we will settle for these pics… for now!
Lauren Collins, Jake Epstein and Shane Kippel captured our hearts during their years on Degrassi: The Next Generation, and now these three former co-stars have come together for a very exciting impromptu reunion! Lauren, who played Paige Michalchuk, was first to upload the nostalgic photo to Instagram on June 29. Find out what she had to say about seeing her old friends again!
“These guys! (Racing to post this before @shaneykipps does…) #DEGRASSI,” Lauren wrote on her Instagram. Don’t they look so great together? Oh, how we have missed them! Wait, so why are they back together? Is there actually a REAL reunion in the works? Well, sort of. It turns out they were together for a promotional Degrassi shoot for TeenNick’s It Goes There: Degrassi‘s Most Talked-About Moments, a special airing July 31!
After we heard the news on June 4 that TeenNick canceled Degrassi after 14 seasons, we were left wiping away our tears in sadness. Although it was quite devastating, we were thrilled to hear that Netflix and Family Channel will be launching a new series titled, Degrassi: Next Class. So, could this be why the promo shoot was happening with the old cast? While we can’t confirm 100%, we are pretty sure this is the connection.”We are energized and excited to work with Family Channel as we tell stories for the new post-millennial teen cohort known as Generation Z, most of whom weren’t even born when Degrassi returned in 2001.” Linda Schuyler, Degrassi co-creator and executive producer, said in a statement. Another former cast-member, Adam Ruggiero, was also there for the mini-reunion. Check out his photo below:
What about the rest of the former cast? Is there a future with Drake and Nina Dobrev returning for the big finale? HollywoodLife.com learned the details about whether or not this would happen. “There has been zero rumblings of a return and nothing has been filmed with either of them,” a source revealed to HollywoodLife EXCLUSIVELY. “So the chances of them returning at this point are not very likely,” they added. Ugh, bummer!
