Britney Spears is coming back swinging at Iggy Azalea for blaming her for the less than spectacular success of their duet ‘Pretty Girls.’ She took to her Twitter June 29 and made it clear that this pop princess is not to be messed with!
Cat fight! Iggy Azalea may think she’s a bigger star than Britney Spears but the Grammy winner has just put the 25-year-old in her place with a simple 28 word tweet. Iggy, who recently cancelled her Great Escape tour, has been very vocal on Twitter lately claiming that the reason her duet with Brit Brit, “Pretty Girls,” isn’t topping the charts is because Britney didn’t do enough promotion or public performances of the summer single. Well, Britney, who is currently selling out her Las Vegas residency at Planet Hollywood has fired back and it ain’t pretty.
This is what Britney tweeted: “Can’t wait to get back to Vegas. So thankful I have shows for the rest of the year to look forward to.. #YouWantAPieceOfMe.” It’s clear this is a direct response to Iggy’s explanation to a fan as to why their song didn’t climb the charts: “It’s difficult to send a song up the charts without additional promo and tv performances etc. unfortunately I’m just featured…” Iggy tweeted. “I would have enjoyed performing it a lot, I think it got off to a powerful star. But you need content to compete in 2015.” In Iggy’s defense, the ladies only performed their song once in May at the Billboard Music Awards but Britney is really busy. She’s performing almost every night in Vegas to sold out shows AND she has two kids AND is going through a break up.
Iggy’s tweeted didn’t stop there though, she also said: “My comment is factual, it applies to any song. I don’t have to suck the woman’s ass—- 24/7 to be her friend, do I? Bye girls.” She continued with: “Genuine friends have genuine opinions. Its possible & healthy to have a differing thought without it being bitchy or shade.” Although Iggy has every right to her opinion, she did throw some major shade and it’s not cool. Britney firing back is a good thing and hopefully will teach Iggy to show a little bit more respect to those music veterans that laid the groundwork for careers like hers!
HollywoodLifers, should Britney be upset with Iggy?
