Another day, another reboot. The latest retro series said to be returning? The classic 90s hit, ‘Sweet Valley High!’ We’ve got all the deets on the show’s possible future!
Hear that? That’s the sound of millions of 90s-loving hearts bursting with joy. Sweet Valley High, which ran for four seasons from 1994 to 1997, is the latest series in talks to receive a reboot. Based on a book of the same name, the series starred Brittany and Cynthia Daniel playing the Wakefield twins, navigating their lives in Sweet Valley, California. So, if we really do get a reboot, will the two blonde bombshells be on board? Here’s what we know so far!
“There is some talk [of a reboot] right now,” Brittany told E! Online. “We’re actually going to have some conversations with Francine [Pascal],” she added. Francine, for those who don’t know, is the generous soul responsible for writing the Sweet Valley High book series.
Brittany, who is now 39, said that, 20 years later, the series remains so special to she and Cynthia. “That series means so much to my sister and I and we want to bring that to our kids and the next generation,” Brittany said. “So it’s only natural for us to want to bring it back.” We couldn’t agree more! It is only natural!
While Brittany has continued to act, and has been seen recently in such shows as It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and The Game, Cynthia basically gave acting up in the 90s. However, that doesn’t mean she’s got no appreciation for the series on which she used to star. “[Sweet Valley High] seems like a lifetime ago,” she said. “For me, personally, because I’m not in the business so much anymore, I’m shocked that people still remember it. It’s amazing how many people still come up to us about it.” Well, how could we ever forget?
