Can you already hear that iconic theme song playing in your head? We’re getting closer to the ‘X-Files’ revival, and series star Gillian Anderson is starting to spill deets on the reboot!
While we still can’t really believe that we’re actually getting an X-Files reboot, we better believe it because the six-episode miniseries is going to premiere on Fox on Jan. 24, 2016. Gillian Anderson, who of course depicted agent Scully in the hit series, will reprise her role for the remake, and she’s starting to open up about what fans can expect when new episodes debut for the first time since 2002. And yes, she’s seen the scripts!
“It feels like it’s been a long time since I’ve played her,” Gillian told our sister site TV Line. “I can’t remember what year the movie was, but it felt like [Scully] was further away from me than I’d thought she would be. But I’ve also worked really hard at putting her entirely to sleep, so that was successful; she’s just taken longer to wake up.”
Gillian admits that, though she doesn’t know how the season will end, she has read the first two scripts, and she assures fans that they won’t disappoint! Gillian said of the first episode, “‘Slow.’ ‘Intense.’ And it’s setting groundwork, so it’s got a particular role to play. It does exactly what it needs to do. What’s a single word for fulfilling that requirement? ‘Functional’? ‘Appropriate’? ‘Functional’ works,” she says with a hearty laugh. “Slow, intense and functional!”
As far as Skully, Gillian revealed that it’s tough to say how she’s changed (or stayed the same). “She’s older! She aged!” she said. “Anything I say is going to sound like something you’re not going to want to watch,” she said. “But that’s not the case. It’s just… I don’t even know. That’s a hard one. I appreciate the question, but I can’t answer it.
Are you excited for the X-Files reboot?
