“To be involved with Sean is a full time job. He is a spectacular human being but he can be tiring in his seriousness and lack of having fun,” an insider tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY. “Charlize was seeing that it was just too intense for her and she needed a breather. She still loves him and respects him to the fullest but she just needed to get out of his intense atmosphere. She is still very young at heart and he plays things by the book.”

Sometimes couples just grow apart, and it seems like that was the case for Charlize and Sean. While Sean is very tied up in his philanthropic work, Charlize needs someone who can keep up with her energy. Both Charlize and Sean are incredibly career-minded people but they’re just in different places with things. Luckily, they’re able to keep friendly.

“The friendship was and is always there but the romance has fizzled, hence her making the decision to call it off,” our insider adds. It’s good to know that they’re still able to remain on good terms. Just because they’re not together, that doesn’t mean the love between them still isn’t there.
